In our region we now have a brand new and quite aggressive bumble bee, the Tree Bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum). Though we strive not to destroy bees, this type is dangerous when nesting low down in a garden or on the body of your house. We do not ordinarily want to harm bees however this bee is dangerous when nested in the area of persons, in particular children and pets. Its recognizable markings, black body, the orange thorax and white tail, make it very easy to identify and we advise ringing a pest controller promptly if you believe that you may have got a nest. Don’t get too close! For assistance with identifying this species visit our wasps and bees site.
We do all we can to help bees whenever possible and we our selves now maintain a hive of honeybees and are now able to provide a small supply of local honey. Take a look at our Harrier Honey dedicated webpage for additional information.

Most common unwanted pests
Lancashire Pest Control eradicate wasps’ nests in the summer time for a set price of just £49.50, we will never request more to eradicate a wasps’ nest unless specialist access equipment such as a cherry-picker or scaffolding is required to reach the nest
However, once we get much beyond mid-September we are working with what we call a late season wasps’ nest, and this may call for extra work to make things safe and secure for you. Please click the link for extensive details.
We try and deal with wasps’ nests from the outside of the building if at all feasible and we like to use very long lances in place of ladders, it’s much safer for all concerned.
Also, and more importantly do NOT attempt to close or block the nest entrance with mastic or mortar etc., you’ll drive the wasps into the house and when we arrive we need the entrance to be open so as to perform the treatment.
If you call us out to a nest where you have sealed the entrance we will charge you extra for the additional time it takes us to deal with the nest. On occasions when an entrance has been sealed or where you have attempted to deal with the nest yourself we reserve the right to charge you a call out fee without carrying out the treatment or to attempt the work with no guarantee given.
You will be provided with the earliest available appointment, commonly same-day and our technician will eliminate the wasps’ nest by injecting a tiny measure of pesticide into the spot where the wasps are entering and leaving. The wasps will transport this insecticide into the nest on their bodies and the whole colony will be dead within the hour.
So Long As we can access the wasps’ nest from the outside of the premises you do not even have to wait in. Our specialist wasp control website offers a PayPal button for you to use. We will then eradicate the nest while you are out, but remember to telephone us to tell us that you have paid online and leave unlocked any gates we will need to go through.
If you know of any problems which you are aware of which might hinder the treatment such as the existence of bats then remember to inform us of that on the phone.
The prevalent pest of the day is bed bugs, they are a world-wide plague and extremely easily transported to your property.
There is a huge amount of confusion between bed bugs and dust mites. Distinct From dust mites which are comparatively safe, bed bugs are not present in every bed but only in the beds of people unfortunate enough to become infested.
Bed bugs are readily spotted and look like an apple pip, particularly when completely grown and recently fed. They aren’t signs of bad sanitation, all they require is a blood feed every few days – your blood!
You can transport bed bugs to your residence just by staying in an infested hotel room or even by being seated next to the wrong person on the tube.
Once established in your house they will quickly spread out to any linked premises and in a serious infestation it is possible to experience upwards of 500 bites per night.
These pesky bugs are not a pest which can be addressed by an amateur, you will need specialist support or you could make things a lot worse. If you even suspect that you could possibly have bed bugs then talk to Lancashire Pest Control.
Before you undergo any steps at all, most certainly do not purchase a new bed or mattress because it will probably be infested by bed bugs on the first night.
Ants are a major pest of the spring and summer months. So many people will know the fear of flying ants emerging into their properties and dread the the summer season for this reason.
However, we are these days much better prepared to cope with ants than we were even a handful of of years ago. We can now with full confidence offer a 3 year warranty on ant work in the majority of cases.
The procedure is very simple, creates no mess and is safe for everyone concerned.
Why waste cash and struggle for years with dusts and remedies which never work when we can get rid of the infestation and give you a warranty, renewable in 3 year periods.
Cat Fleas and Dog Fleas are growing to be more bothersome in the Lancashire Pest Control area and we are receiving more and more requests from people who continuously treat their dogs and cats and yet are still getting flea infestations in their homes.
This seems to be mainly because populations of cat fleas and dog fleas in the Lancashire Pest Control area of operation are getting to be resistant to the active ingredients in the flea control products readily available to the consumer.
The spread of these fleas is also brought about by the increase in the presence of city foxes in many areas.
It is essential to deal with a flea infestation quickly, particularly in the presence of infants as fleas are intermediate hosts of tapeworm.
